We got a late start out of town Friday due to a wreck on 59, so we just made the beat of it. Got into Palacios around 7 and met an old friend from the RV park from 2 years ago. . . . Went and had dinner at the Outrigger and talked to the owner about the latest news from the bay, he and sever other TP&W folks were there enjoying the music and food. (good Food BTW).

When we arrived at the trailer it was now what we were expecting. . . . :o The power went out and all our food had spoiled, and stunk to high heaven. . . . Traced it to the Battery system of the trailer and got the A/C going, Cleaned the refrig and fumigated the place at least bearable to sleep in! Not the way to start a weekend. . . Launched the boat about 11:00 and got ready for the next morning.

Sat,
It was a typical (NK) windy day and headed out, LoboFisher, Big Red, Lil’fp and I, headed for bait and then to out favorite spot, now know as Hookers Corner! Fishing was slow for the first half hour or so then Lobo picked up a couple bid black drum, Big Red got a couple Rats and a small trout, and Lil’fp and I headed the other direction. That’s when it got FUN! I picked up a few rats about 20 yards from the boat when I saw a tailing red to my left. My heart started pumping, casted past and WHAM! It took off and broke my line at he hook. Shortly another tail appeared and I casted and got him this time, 22”. Then saw another tail and had Lil’fp thro past it and he started saying "Dad, Dad, Dad" and line started stripping off the reel. He was trying not to scream, he was having a blast fighting that red. He said “Dad, this is what its all about!” he got it in and it was bigger than mine 23”. 2 reds on the stringer, and I got a good trout right after that. We ended up catching a bunch of rats, drum and croaker for the rest of the day. Lobo ended up with 3 keeper drum and a couple croaker, Big Red was empty (very unusual for him).
Big red and I went back out that evening and got 1 more red to end the day.

Sun,
Wind howling, bay rough, have bait and Dam the Torpedoes, full speed ahead! We went back to hookers corner. Not the same as Sat, but still caught a bunch of thro backs, Big Red picked up a good red 23.5” and a spec, Lobo got another Drum or 2 and I ended the day with a spec also. There were lots of rats in the area, so it looks to be a good summer in that area.

We Packed up, and headed home for some much needed rest!
